I awoke this morning at 5 am with an intense pain in my upper left jaw, the kind of pain that is focused above the tooth and then explodes into a splitting headache. I was clever enough to think of doing a warm salt-water rinse, which eased the pain away after 15 minutes, but needless to say I had less than restful sleep last night. Because it's cold, windy, and gloomy, and I just want junk food, this was my brunch:
1. Melted baker's chocolate spread on toast+ frozen strawberries
2. Ice cream
3. Grilled cheese sandwich with lots of ketchup
4. Hot cocoa (made with water, not milk)
Yup. I'm now in a comfortable position to take a nap. But first, some updates about my week...
I've been working on some presentation stuff for the study I've been helping my prof with. She's going to a conference on Monday, and I helped prepare a poster for it. The research is pretty cool; we're looking at the amount of time that sarcopenic patients spend in ICU and Hospital vs. Non-sarcopenic patients, and it's pretty astounding that not only do they stay longer, the stay is almost twice as much! I am pretty happy just being able to help out and learn, but she said that if I continue volunteering with her in Winter term, I *might* even get the chance to actually present something in Edmonton! OMG that would be so cool. But a little frightening at the same time.
I'm hanging out with Jenn tonight! YAY! I have to say that one of the things I am most thankful for in life, other than my wonderful family, is the friendship that she and I have. It sounds sappy and maybe even borderline Lesbo-- but it's true (and don't get me started on the lesbo thing; we have a funny story and history twisted around that since high school, and we're practically "The Couple that Never Was"). By definition, she is my best friend; we just "get" each other. We're rarely in the same city for more than 4 months at a time, yet even so, we're able to just meet up and pick up where we left off. It's a good feeling to know that there is someone out there who is a true friend, and I really cherish all the good times we've had.
Hmm let's see... it's 1:30 now. If I sleep for an hour or so, I still have lots of time to do Yoga and some studying. wheee!
Good night!
